He Calls It Curation. It’s a Stack of Jobs and One Playlist.
Eli Scheinman is not a mystery. He is a stack of hats that all point at the same wall.
Senior advisor for digital art at Art Basel. The man on Zero 10, the fair’s digital wing, the room that tells the traditional world which on-chain pictures count. Before that, director of art at Proof, the Moonbirds and Grails shop. Then Yuga, the Ape and Punk factory, March to November 2024. Then he “moved on.” Then he kept selling the same neighborhood through Canon Punks, a private listing desk for CryptoPunks where fees partly dress themselves up as charity for the Node Foundation.
That is the résumé. The feed is the tell.
A hundred posts later the pattern is not taste. It is employment. 2022 and 2023: Grails, Grails, who do you want in Grails IV. 2024: Yuga until the goodbye note. 2025: Punks, Art Blocks, a little XCOPY, and then the Strategy tokens. “Punk Strategy just acquired Punk 1613.” “Squiggle Strategy has collected 20 Squiggles.” “If you like NFTs, you should root for Strategies.” He said the quiet part with a trademark sign.
PNKSTR is a treasury token that hoovers floor Punks and tries to flip them at a markup. The marketing even bragged that a slice would land on the top hundred Punk wallets so the loudest bags in crypto would have a reason to talk. scheinman.eth shows more than a million PNKSTR. He cheered a $58 million market cap. The fully diluted number later sat near $12 million. Anyone who treated those posts as a curator’s blessing is looking at an eighty percent haircut.
Call the wallet what it is: an ENS name that matches the man, not a signed confession on his profile. Paid posts are not proven. What is proven is the stack. He deals Punks. He consigns Punks. He helped park a Punk in GameSquare’s treasury for millions in stock. He brokered Punk #424 for Adam Weitsman and moved XCOPY 1/1s. And he curates at Art Basel, the institution that turns that same market into a cathedral.
This is the endorsement cartel with a museum pass. The same two or three rooms. The same names. The same caption: grateful, historic, important. The picture is whatever pays the desk. A real curator can fade a piece. A dealer with a token in the drawer cannot. He just finds a nicer word for inventory. The profile says joined September 2017. The account was born August 2021. Even the birthday is a costume.
If your idea of an art advisor is a man who promotes the bags he sits on and the fairs that bless those bags, Eli is doing the job. If your idea of a curator is somebody who looks at the work first, this is a salesman who learned the word “canon.”
Class dismissed. Follow the hats. The art was never the product.
